Mary Looks Up

Mary originated after some discussion on the topic of religion, and Mary’s role throughout Christianity. Her role can also be documented throughout the history of art as well. Mary’s body language and lack of eye contact really spoke to me about Mary. She was often portrayed looking downward, mostly at the baby Jesus. She was the model of love and obedience, but I believe she was so much more. She was a strong young woman in my eyes and therefore she looks up and shows who she is with her eyes.
